Rilwan’s research aims to investigate factors that predict susceptibility and severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection by studying the immune profiles of individuals from their biological samples obtained before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will use data from an ongoing study- CHILD Cohort Study, that has already generated over 50 million data points from biological samples, questionnaires, home assessments and clinical assessments of 3495 children (born in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario between 2009-12) and their parents.

This complex dataset will form the basis of his research and the VADA training will help him to develop and use automated techniques and advanced computational tools to mine and visualize datasets generated from his research and improve knowledge translation and communication of research findings to an interdisciplinary audience.

    Hi Rilwan,

Great presentation! Many provinces and cities moved to online schooling for various lengths of time this past year. Is this something this study/your models will consider, given that several schools had covid breakouts during in-person classes? Thanks!
